This chapter explores two case studies of culture change. Two main categories of change are presented across Chapters 8 and 9 including “people/culture” and “program” changes. This chapter examines people and culture changes include those which require a shift in stakeholders’ attitudes or philosophical perspectives, whereas Chapter 9 examines programmatic change. People change is often needed before a programmatic change can be introduced in order to create a culture of receptivity requisite for success. Program changes include those related to specific curriculum initiatives (e.g., literacy and numeracy) as well as those implemented by the school to support learning (e.g., language programs and behavioral management programs).
