This chapter furnishes the reader with the results of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) analysis process. It begins with a synopsis of the literature about the experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic from the perspective of parents raising autistic children. It then outlines findings from the collected literature about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on autistic children and autistic adults. The limitations in the current literature are then reported followed by an overview of three topics that only have a paucity of literature, which are vaccine hesitancy among autistics and parents raising autistic children, the experiences of autistics living with COVID-19 disease and parenting an autistic child during the COVID-19 pandemic. The overall purpose of this chapter is to provide a context for the findings that were collected in the online surveys that will be presented in the next chapter.
