In this chapter, we present stories of different reactions to humiliation. Reactions to humiliation depend on the personality, the influence of social environment, religious beliefs and different psychological issues.

Scientific and theoretical articles identify and report reactions to humiliation, such as anger, violence, depression, and anxiety, and that humiliation ranks as a stronger feeling compared to anger and joy. Other reactions derived from theory are withdrawal, seeking revenge, avoiding humiliations by physically moving away from possible present or future attacks. However, some people decide to prove the humiliating individual or group wrong and thus turn the humiliation into something more positive (Table 2.1).
