8: Patience, My Boy: The Importance of Mentorship to Leaders

When the Avatar returns, one of the world’s biggest questions is how to guide the most powerful being in the world effectively. Power alone isn’t enough to determine whether that power will be used wisely. The question that haunts the public is: who will show the Avatar the way? Since guidance of a new leader isn’t about power alone, it must fall to something else. Something that everyone in the workplace and in the world needs is a mentor. Mentorship is the common method by which the Avatar (and others in the Avatar universe) learn their bending and their leadership skills. A good mentor can be the difference between learning a new bending technique and struggling with it or learning how to navigate the corporate power ladder at your organization and not getting that promotion. No matter the kind of mentorship you might need, just like the Avatar, you need guidance.
