Many scholars must submit publications as a standard expectation of their employment. Others may opt to publish for professional or personal reasons. While the reason or focus of publishing may differ based on the type of employment, content, or context, the general publishing process typically remains consistent. Submitting your work for publication can be a daunting task. However, doing so with the support of a collaborative writing group can help make the process less painful. Notice we said LESS painful, not easy.
When publishing in a group, it is imperative to identify each individual's roles and responsibilities. You might remember from previous chapters that there are a multitude of roles that an individual may play in the publication process. Each group member must fulfill their role and be responsive to the project. With this in mind, some thought should be given to those with the organizational and professional communication skills to perform critical tasks related to prepublication.
