Let's begin our look at the effect of toxic humans in the boardroom, at senior levels and on the organisation as a whole by first defining what we think of when we talk about the toxic workplace:

Members of Boards should in theory have a bird's eye view of what is going on in an organisation and be able to pick up evidence of toxicity in that organisation. Is it reasonable to expect this of them? Let's focus on Boards in this chapter and what they do, then we will touch on senior teams – and then return to board members again later on.
