Intelligent organizations need to adapt to the rapidly changing situations around them. This adaptation involves a process of organizational learning. Few organizations can be described as learning organizations, and their inability to learn has an impact on their capacity to operate effectively and compete. One way of addressing this is to find instruments that can assist organizations to develop their capacity to learn. There is an ancillary requirement. Organizations can only learn through their employees, and we need to appreciate how learning transfer can occur from the individual to the group or to the organization. This knowledge should lead to an understanding about how learners can participate more meaningfully in their own organizations.
