In the 1950s, Roger Sperry discovered the two halves of the human brain, and came to find the left-brain preferred logic, language, and sequence, whereas the right brain preferred visual, artistic, and abstract ideas (Pink, 2005). In general, U.S. education teaches students through a very left-brain style, focusing on presenting information in a sequential and logical manner; however, we know the right-brain style is also a valuable way of learning and processing (Farmer, 2004). This activity can serve as a validation of right-brained learners and leaders as well as a metaphor for leadership practice.
