We have stressed the importance of regular and effective communications to internal and external audiences. The external audience tends too often to be only parents of students and other adults who for various reasons are involved or particularly interested in schools. Effort to communicate with all external audiences is sometimes limited by tending to overlook the business audience. It is a source of unmatched service to students, especially those who are interested in internships, career exploration, and part-time including summer employment. Public school leaders need to nurture the broader external constituency as an important source of supplemental dollars to help fund unique school projects and programs.
