Chapter 5: Gun Violence And Urban Education

The United States has a long history and connection to guns. Our paper explores gun violence’s impact on urban communities and schools through the authors’ reflections of their own experiences with gun violence and a discussion panel with professionals from various industries. We analyze the dialogue to identify salient themes and overall trends that emerged from the panel. Using these results, we make recommendations on addressing gun violence issues in urban schools and areas for possible research.
