Peace is an ethical power-making challenge to social evils like direct violence as well as structural and cultural violence as depicted by Galtung (1996). Peace education empowers people to teach about peace: what it is, why it does not exist, and how to achieve it (Harris, 2004). Peace education in Korea addresses the root causes of the division of our nation: what is needed to overcome our divided country that creates tensions between two Koreas. People need to become aware of what needs to be done in order to reunify the peninsula (Baek, 2006). Thus peace education should be extended to include reunification education.
