This chapter corresponds to Annex E of EN 1994-1-1, which has the following clauses.
Many of the clauses use the word ‘may’, so several design methods are possible. The symbols of Annex E are listed at the beginning of Chapter 14.
Clause D.5.1.1(4) refers to this Annex E for supplementary rules for ‘widely spaced’ openings (defined in clause D.2.2) under ‘locally stiff’ slabs (defined below). The limits to scope are as in Annex D (sagging moment regions of beams in buildings etc.). Shear connectors other than studs can be used if they are in category D2 or D3. There is comment under clause D.2.1(5).
