Dr. Tolan began her early career in business management and professional sales in New York’s financial district. In 1992, she began teaching at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY and rose to Professor of Business. For many years, Dr. Tolan also served as the Coordinator of Business Graduate Programs at the school. Since 2013, she has been an elected member of the Board of Directors at the Northeast Business and Economics Association (NBEA) for which she served as Conference Chair/Vice President and editor of their proceedings journal.

Dr. Tolan’s research and publications focus on how to improve management education. She has co-authored a 2022 book entitled Sustainability Accounting and Reporting: The Evolution of Management Accountability with Tracey Niemotko and was a contributing author to Adolescence in the 21st Century: Constants and Challenges in 2013. In addition, Dr. Tolan has written many articles which discuss ways in which management education can improve so that students can be better prepared for the modern workplace.
