Appendix: Teacher Collectives

In 2023, after decades of negotiation, the Lärarnas Riksförbund, Lärarförbundet, and Sveriges Skolledarförbund agreed to form one union for teachers (Sveriges Lärare) and another for school leaders (Sveriges Skolledare). There are also separate organizations for different workers within the schools. For example, health teams might include a school psychologist, special education teachers, school nurses, and school counselors. These professionals all have their own separate organizations, and in the case of the Sveriges Psykologförbund (Swedish Psychological Association), there is a “Teachers’ Section” which represents school psychologists.
