Undertaking the Delphi study meant satisfying predetermined objectives. Before deliberating on the results of the Delphi study, it is paramount to first reflect on the defined objectives:
A total of 15 experts participated in the first round of the Delphi study. However, only 10 experts were retained for the second and last round. Based on the results of the second round, it was evident that consensus was reached among the experts, as a result, there was not enough evidence to suggest the need for a third round. A well-defined criterion was developed to select experts to form part of the expert panel. Amongst these was that the experts must have knowledge of and expertise in the maintenance of built assets. The panel comprised practitioners as well as professors and doctors in various institutions of higher learning. The selection of practitioners and individuals in academia provided a balance in terms of theory and practice regarding the maintenance of built assets.
