We kept this quote from the first edition of our book, as we believe that the sentiment remains the same today as it did in 2009. Of course, in 2026, players are no longer looking at doubling their financial investment but multiplying it by a factor of “xxx,” through mergers and acquisitions (M&As), private equity, initial and secondary offerings, and taking on the role of a financial platform for cryptocurrencies.
Investor relations is simply the strategic management and communication between a company and its investors, shareholders, financial analysts, and other relevant stakeholders (Bourne, 2016; Gummer, 1995). It is a key function within a company’s corporate communications department or operates as a separate department altogether (Laskin, 2017). The key objective of investor relations is to ensure effective and transparent communication with the investment community, providing accurate and timely information about the company’s financial performance, operations, strategies, and other material information that may impact investment decisions (Capizzo & Sommerfeldt, 2017; Ragas, 2019). The aim of investor relations initiatives is to foster trust, maintain positive relationships, and attract and retain investors (Clark, 2004).
