In this final concluding chapter, we pull the threads of our arguments together and set out a vision for more focus on academic talk in teaching and learning conversations in higher education, and as a lever for more fulsome engagement and participation of all students, but especially those from equity or widening participation (WP) backgrounds. We argue for putting the topic of academic talk on teaching, policy and research agendas in higher education for greater visibility and attention. We also argue that academic talk is a concern for all stakeholders in education, not just for teachers. Appropriate support, training and development is crucial as is a shared responsibility for advocating for academic talk.
