Chapter 4: Knowledge Places

This chapter focuses on knowledge places as the built environment. The built environment – places – is where social spaces happen. The built environment is slow to change, though, and may provide impediments as societies change. Structures built to reinforce earlier societies and economies may not be aligned with the knowledge economy. The authors explain how place syntax can help us analyze the knowledge flows of the built environment.
