Purpose

This paper aims to present a parallel way to generate carbon fibers virtual materials and then solve electrical problem for homogenization on conductivity tensor of the material.

Design/methodology/approach

A splitting of the domain in different cells is performed before parallel generation and assembly. Two strategies are studied, with or without communication between the cells.

Findings

The two methods show excellent speed-up and are in agreement with reference results for large-scale domain, even though one of the strategy has limitations for small domain with a deviation of the conductivity.

Originality/value

Three-dimensional generation of carbon fibers virtual material stays rarely presented in literature, and the proposed method can easily be declined in a parallel way.
