CMI International introduces a new computerized coating thickness measurement system

Keywords CMI, Coatings, Measurement

The CMI 700 Series is a user friendly, microprocessor-controlled instrument that measures virtually any combination of coatings and substrates (Plate 4). A large, high-contrast,back-lit display with a menu-based operator interface makes it versatile and easy to use. Statistics and charts can be graphically displayed or printed and four dry type relay outputs provide additional system flexibility.

Magnetic induction,eddy-current, microresistance and beta backscatter measurement disciplines provide the CMI 700 Series with the capability necessary to measure the wide range of coatings used in the automotive, appliance, aerospace, electronics, metal finishing, printed circuit board and fastener industries. Repeatability, reproducibility and accuracy of measurements, coupled with the utmost security of both data and stored calibrations are key features of this advanced system.

Calibrations can be named and a selection of display font sizes are available for the user to customize the operation of the system. A complete statistics package is included with standard deviation, mean, percent deviation, number of readings, accuracy, limits, Cpk, Cp, X-bar and R charts, and a histogram. Measurement data can also be exported to an optional CMI database and report generator program for detailed analysis and graphical presentation of the data in customizable report formats. Specialized measurement probes, guides, foot switches, printers and NIST traceable standards are available.
