Environmental Effects of Fumes Created During Soldering

The application of the Health & Safety at Work Act is discussed in relation to solder and flux fumes arising during soldering processes. Comparisons between fumes from different types of resins indicate the variations of particle sizes of the particulates in fumes, and of the effect of temperature on rates of decomposition. Vapour phase soldering also leads to potential health risks. Precautions and interpretation of legislation are discussed.
