Barco ETS's main activities are AOI systems for bare PCBs, a broad range of photoplotters, software for CAM and electrical test and, most recently, laser direct imaging (LDI). Mania's exposure, AOI and software products are highly complementary to the Barco ETS products. These are the activities that are now brought into the new joint venture.
Mania itself will further concentrate on electrical test and drilling systems, and its important outsourcing services. The Mania-Barco joint venture is entirely focused on the PCB markets and will incorporate PCB design,manufacturing and assembly products and services. Through this new joint venture, Mania-Barco will be able to offer its customers a more complete range of products and services.
The joint venture is an extension of the successful co-operations that Barco ETS and Mania enjoyed for quite some time. Mania Japan is Barco's dealer in Japan. Mania's outsourcing services have standardized on Barco's front-end software. And Barco developed a dedicated front-end for Mania's Sapphire AOI series.
