PRISM/PASSPORT: “questioning authority (files)”

In Part 1 of my “Authors and Titles and MARC – Oh My!” (Fall 1993) I asked if you wanted me to do a similar article on the Authority File format. Well, there was a resounding reply to the affirmative. Well, maybe not resounding, but it was definitely a reply, more than one, even. Don′t laugh, I welcome all communication on this side of the column. It gets lonely facing these deadlines alone. You, the reader, have the luxury of reading this column whenever you want (well, within the parameters of routing it in a timely manner – I know). I, on the other hand, have to produce, on demand, an interesting, up‐to‐date, pithy expose on a PRISM/PASSPORT‐type topic that will grab your attention. Since I left AMIGOS and moved to this very quiet, private college, I′ve been wondering if anyone is out there...there...there...
