Describes OCLCDBS.COM, a program for transferring records to dBaseIII+. Discusses the benefits of dBASE, the lack of links between OCLC records and database file formats, the development of OCLCDBS,problems of designing the program, and features of the program such as field tags. Surmises that both small and large libraries can benefit from programming in dBASE since it allows greater flexibility of application according to need.
