In the event of a major disaster communications systems are often rendered ineffective owing to the large demands placed upon them. This is especially true of the telephone system. Examines a new system of routeing telephone calls away from the immediate area of the disaster to other areas within the UK to alleviate the pressure on those immediately involved in the disaster. This allows a greater degree of uniformity in the information collation.
