The provision of medical services in disasters requires specific knowledge,the ability to organize an emergency medical system adapted to a specific disaster situation, and the professional skill to provide medical care of high quality even in a hostile environment. To meet these goals, education and training in all aspects of disaster medicine are essential. Recognizing the need for such training, as well as for medical involvement in planning for and coordinating disaster response, a group of European universities has established a Web-based program offering a "European master in disaster medicine". The program Web site provides information about course goals and program design,as well as an outline of course content and information about how courses are actually conducted.
