The periodical and serial publications for the main library at AERE and for its eighteen divisional libraries are all purchased, processed and catalogued centrally by the acquisition and cataloguing section of the main library. At present the number of titles of periodicals and serial publications being received is 1, 875. Many titles are also received in multiple copies. For effective administrative control up‐to‐date listings of the current periodical subscriptions of the divisional libraries are required annually in addition to lists of periodicals obtained through each supplier. The majority of titles purchased are ordered through one main agent, with the exception of those purchased directly from H.M. Stationery Office. A smaller proportion of titles is presented, and a very few purchased, for various reasons, direct from the publisher.
