CDS/ASIS is a software package designed for storage and retrieval of structured textual information. CDS/ISIS was produced by Unesco and there are users in almost all countries. Although CDS/SIS, which is officially known as Mini Micro CDS/SIS, possesses a number of excellent features, there are a few drawbacks too. The inability to automatic spell check and edit errors is one such drawback. This becomes a handicap especially because CDS/SIS does not provide near matches at the information retrieval stage. This paper discusses an experiment carried out to find out possibilities of online editing with the aid of FANGORN, a utility available from the national distributors of CDS/SIS.
