Proposes that greater attention should be paid to“design” thinking on grounds that traditional European thought (that progress will come about through natural evolutionary pressures controlled by the critical intellect) will be far too slow a process to shape responses to the problems facing us. We must think constructively, be ready to change our systems and to move simultaneously towards both bigger and smaller units – not either/or.
