Executive Information Systems (EIS) is a new technology emerging in response to the special information needs of top executives. It already has its software and hardware support and is growing rapidly. Discusses the nature of EIS, the need for EIS and the potential resistance to EIS implementation, desired characteristics of EIS, and available software and development tools for installing awareness of the need and existence of EIS. In addition, includes examples of successful experiences with EIS in companies like Rockwell International, Bank of Boston, Frito‐Lay Inc., and Hertz.
