Upon completion of this case study discussion, students shall be able to apply the political, economic, social, technological, environmental, and legal framework to dissect the political, economic, social, technological, environmental and legal factors in the Indian market; analyze corporate strategy and stakeholder interests using a performance management framework using balanced scorecard; evaluate a complex, multi-faceted strategic approach using a two-pronged strategy model; and recommend a collaborative model for market development such as public–private partnership.

Case overview/synopsis

This case study examines Equinor’s strategic choices for expansion into India, especially with the type of hydrogen to produce. It explores production methods, costs, environmental impacts and strategic factors of hydrogen production methods influencing Equinor’s decision.
