Case overview/synopsis

Dr Prakash Bakshi, the chief executive officer of MedoPlus Services Private Limited, a health-tech corporation operating for three years, was comfortably sitting in his office at the company’s headquarters in Noida. In November 2023, on a Friday evening, Bakshi was diligently working to complete his daily chores. He had a pile of reports and emails that needed his attention, and he needed to improve a presentation he was scheduled to deliver to the company’s advisers and core staff on the upcoming Monday. This presentation aimed to emphasize the patterns observed in rural health and the possibility of additional growth. While Bakshi was occupied with the tasks, his phone received an incoming call. He answered the phone immediately without verifying the caller ID. “Hello, Dr. Bakshi. This is Neeraj speaking.” I anticipated the possibility of seeing you. Neeraj Chandra, the Chief Operating Officer of MedoPlus, was speaking on the telephone. “Yes, Neeraj.” Why don’t you pay a visit? I am on the verge of completing my tasks and preparing to depart for my residence. Shortly after, Chandra arrived at Dr Bakshi’s office door. During the following hour, they focused on two main objectives: increasing the adoption of cheap health-care solutions through MedoPlus and extending their operations. They decided to end the evening after the clock struck at 10:00 p.m. Bakshi grinned, “I anticipated this to be a brief and casual check-in to celebrate the end of the week.” Upon departing the office, Chandra and Bakshi experienced a pressing need to intensify their endeavors to reach a larger population in rural India who desperately need accessible and high-quality health care.
