Management problems arising from the introduction of automation

These jottings are prompted by the implementation, in the Polytechnic of North London's Library Service, of the BLCMP online circulation system CIRCO. The Polytechnic joined the BLCMP co‐operative in 1976 and began to take the batch cataloguing system. Some years later the online system BOSS became available, and since then the vast majority of our cataloguing has been undertaken online at the system centre in Birmingham.
