The British Library Document Supply Centre has begun a two‐year trial of document delivery from compact disc (CD‐ROM). The trial will assess the feasibility of journal publishing on CD‐ROM and the supply of articles from the discs. All the articles from 219 high‐use biomedical journals (January 1987 issues onwards) are being captured on CD‐ROM, and BLDSC has developed a document delivery workstation to retrieve, display and print articles from the discs. The main advantages to customers will be a high quality copy at no extra cost and the elimination of waiting lists for journal articles.
