Paul Nowak was appointed Assistant General Secretary of the TUC in 2013 and subsequently confirmed as Deputy General Secretary by the TUC General Council in 2016. He leads on a number of key policy areas including public services, industrial strategy and transport. He also has responsibility for the TUC’s organisation in Wales and the English regions, annual Congress, union organising and inter-union relations. He was appointed a member of the ACAS Council in November 2011.

Andy Hodder is Senior Lecturer in Employment Relations at the University of Birmingham, UK. Andy’s research examines contemporary trade unionism in a range of contexts. He has undertaken research into union use of social media, young workers and trade unions and union organisation, mobilisation and strike action. His work has appeared in journals including: British Journal of Industrial Relations; Industrial Relations Journal; New Technology, Work and Employment; Work, Employment and Society; Work & Occupations.
