Library Reference Center <http://www.epnet.com/lrc.html> is a searchable database of indexing and abstracts for more than 30 of the most widely‐used library journals. Designed for use by public and academic librarians, the source list (available online) includes titles such as American Libraries, School Library Journal, and more. EBSCO Publishing maintains this database, and information is loaded as it is received from publishers on an ongoing basis.

The search engine works efficiently and supports keyword, natural language, advanced and “expert” searches. Boolean operators can be used (AND, OR, NOT), and search terms can be grouped in parentheses in order to allow users to further define their searches.

The user interface is open, straightforward and uncluttered. Clear and concise search tips are provided for each available type of query. The abstracts include links to related topics, to other articles in the same volume and issue, and to other articles by the same author. Buttons are provided which allow users to print, e‐mail or save.

According to EBSCO, the site provides information to librarians on “technology, trends, and changes in library science”. It accomplishes this task very well, as searching a variety of library‐related topics consistently produces related and up‐to‐date citations. This site is an excellent resource for both professionals and students of library science. As library journals may not always be extensively indexed in other online databases, this site fills that particular “gap” in the market. Overall, it provides a simple and effective way to search for library‐related articles. Highly recommended.
