There has been much discussion about the role the University might play in the training of teachers. Already a post‐experience course in reading development is running as a kind of in‐service training for teachers; and this month 25 students at the Milton Keynes college of education are embarking on an Open University degree course. The possibility of a liaison such as this has been talked about for some time now and it is almost certain that other colleges will develop similar schemes. If the pilot study is successful, it is hoped that all the students at Milton Keynes will participate next year.
