In recent years the traditional system of craft apprenticeship has been undergoing considerable change. The setting up of the Industrial Training Boards and their growing influence, the development of off‐the‐job training at company and group training centres, and the increased use of day release and block release for the further education of apprentices have meant that apprentice training has become increasingly organised, formalised and sophisticated.
