Four years ago the Nuffield Science Teaching Project was born. Teachers had a growing conviction that science syllabuses were no longer proving equal to the task — and were preventing pupils from developing a scientific outlook. A grant by the Nuffield Foundation enabled a far‐reaching study to get under way, and the recent film Exploring Chemistry (b/w, 35 min) shows what progress the Project has made in the field of chemistry teaching.
