Citibank in the UK has introduced a special schools programme in preparation for economic and monetary union. The programme consists of a specially-designed euro booklet with teaching aids, aimed at secondary-school pupils.

The 17-page booklet summarizes essential information on the euro, from the history of the European Union, via the Maastricht Treaty and the European Central Bank, to the opportunities and risks of economic and monetary union. Non-European views of the euro are also included. A set of transparencies helps teachers to plan their instruction. The pack also includes two posters. The programme is also available in Germany, Spain, Belgium Greece and Italy.
