Students have advanced the vision of a university system combining transparency and flexibility, where each student may determine his/her own course of study thanks to geographical or virtual (using the Internet) mobility,in a Europe where university education has a broad common denominator. This was the main result of a brainstorming session on higher education in the year 2020. The event was organized by the "umbrella" organization for students in Europe, the Association des Etats Generaux des Etudiants de l'Europe, and held at the European Parliament.
