Polytechnics

Sixteen of the proposed 30 polytechnics have now been approved. Or have they? two years after the White Paper's publication, Mr Short has stated that: ‘subject to the amendment of their proposals on certain points, which vary in number and importance from case to case, he will be prepared to designate Polytechnics in their areas when the governing bodies have been set up and other preliminary action has been taken’.
