An imaginative new course to launch ambitious school leavers on a career in retailing is being mounted at South Devon Technical College. The venue is significant for the south west region has a greater proportion of youngsters entering the distributive industry than any other part of the country. And as the head of the department of business studies, Mr R. Lawson, put it: ‘Locally there are a lot of school leavers who finish up in the industry as a last resort when all else fails — its the Cinderella.’
