Time and again experience demonstrates that in a majority of cases the person most knowledgeable about a particular job is the individual actually performing the operation. Yet far too often organisations fail to tap this reservoir of knowledge and expertise. Indeed, in many organisations management policies actively discourage employee involvement in efforts to improve overall operating effectiveness.
