There are three basic groups of people involved in career change situations. First, those who seek greater job enrichment, etc; secondly, those faced by sudden redundancy, due either to economic disaster or structural changes in industry; thirdly, those in occupations which are inherently short‐term who face an inevitable change of job at the end of that term.
