John Wellens describes the aims and scope of this type of school, referring particularly to British Oxygen's Welding School at Cricklewood, London. In the section seen above there are stations for 48 students on gas welding; each student has a separate bench and his own welding equipment. Gas is piped to each station from a central storage depot outside. This group indicates the very wide range in age and background of the students.
