BEC is on course Available to Purchase

The past year has seen a major change in business education courses in more than 350 colleges and polytechnics throughout the country, with the introduction of new BEC courses. Regular readers of Education & Training are already likely to have at least some knowledge of BEC development from articles and references in many issues over the past four and half years since the Council was set up in May 1974 by the then Secretary of State for Education & Science. BEC's remit from the Government was to plan, administer and keep under review a unified national system of non‐degree courses for those whose occupations fall within the broad area of business (including distributive trades) and public administration. September 1979, one year after the introduction of the first new BEC courses, seems a reasonable time to attempt to assess the Council's achievements to date and point the way to continued future development.
