The Long Term (22 mins( is a new Careers Service film about the longterm process of helping teenagers make the right career choice. Aimed at parents, it features the hopes, anxieties and problems of children as they make the difficult transition from school to work and, it is hoped, a career. Through such things as talks with school‐leaving children involving their parents, interviews and industrial visits, the film illustrates how the Careers Service provides a vital bridge between school and employment. A clear picture emerges of the many ways in which the Service, supported by the continuing interest and positive help of parents, sets teenagers on the right path in the search for, and selection of, a career which will make the most of their interests and abilities. The film stresses the benefits to a job‐seeking teenager of realistic co‐ordination between parents, teachers, prospective employers, and Careers Officers.
