Conference scene

We recently visited the Burlington Hotel, Earls Avenue, Folkestone, Kent, situated in a quiet position on the cliffs at the western end of The Leas, and were most impressed with the friendly atmosphere, excellent food, well‐appointed bedrooms, and helpful personal service. The hotel is fully equipped as a conference venue with meeting and banqueting facilities for both large (up to 100 delegates) and small gatherings (say 20). The General Manager is also a first‐class chef and holder of numerous diplomas in haute cuisine. Certainly the main course which we chose for dinner, Scotch salmon en croute at a modest surcharge on the table d'hote menu, was superb. Gastronomic speciality evenings are held on Saturdays at regular intervals. Incidentally, you will not find do‐it‐yourself tea/coffee‐making facilities in the bedroom; this would offend against the principle of personal service on which the management takes such pride. The hotel also makes an excellent venue for catching the morning Sealink service to Boulogne after a full English breakfast.
