Successful delegation occurs only when the manager who is delegating feels comfortable in the degree of delegation which he has allowed. One of the myths of participative management is that delegation must be absolute This is nonsense; absolute delegation is abdication. Various degrees of delegation are not only possible but very necessary, since not all subordinates are equally experienced, responsible or indeed trustworthy; and tasks vary in the scale of the consequences if something goes wrong
